Non-Genetic Hair Loss Causes in Women
Although it is widely believed that hair loss in men is more
common, women have their fair share of this emotionally devastating disorder.
Many women believe that hair loss is linked to genetic
causes. However there are many causes and factors that lead to the unfortunate
result of hair loss in women.
While previous research findings denoted that hair loss in
women is influenced by genetics; there is a wide range of environmental and
lifestyle factors which increase risk of alopecia in women.
"Increased
stress, smoking, having more children and having a history of hypertension and
cancer were all associated with increased hair thinning," writes ASPS
Member Surgeon Dr. Bahman Guyuron and colleagues of Case Western Reserve
University School of Medicine, Cleveland.

Traveling to Turkey for Facial Hair Implants
Not only Turkey is a well-established destination for hair transplantation;
it is also growing more popular among Middle Eastern patients seeking facial hair
implants.
Facial hair implants in Turkey are chosen by Middle Eastern

regions and also to the cheek, beards, and sideburns.

destination for hair restoration treatments due to reasonably- priced hair
transplants, no-visa restrictions and advantageous location.
Turkish male image is synonymous with big, bold mustaches—
appealing persona men of the Middle East aspire to acquire.
Hair transplantation Turkey doctors specialize in a wide variety
of facial hair aesthetic techniques. Many men suffer facial hair loss due to
trauma, scarring from surgery, radiation, trichotillomania or simply part of

Latisse Brings Hope to Those With Thinning Hair
Latisse, the drug famous for regrowing eyelashes, might have a future treating hair loss.
Allergan, the company responsible for Latisse, Botox, and Juvederm, is now testing the glaucoma and eyelash-growing medication for its hair restoring properties.
So far, the results look very promising.
Rhoda Kelly has been using Latisse to restore her thinning hair for 14 months now, and she told Today Health that she couldn't be happier.
She said, "My hair is in much better condition – it looks healthy."
Although the new hair loss treatment is still in testing stages, experts warn patients that Latisse isn't for everyone. People with any sort of balding will not benefit from using the drug, as it only works on live, active hair follicles.
Perry Romanowski, a cosmetic chemist and blogger for The Beauty Brains, told Today Health, “Since what people really want from this product is something that will bring their hair back, I suspect that they will be disappointed because that will not happen. Are a few thicker, fuller strands going to be worth the expense? Perhaps to some people.”
Chances are, more than a few people are going to find this story interesting, even though Latisse still has its critics. As an alternative to hair transplant surgery, this topical medication is a less-invasive option, but only time will tell if it really works or not.

Divorced Women Have a Greater Risk for Hair Loss
In the United States, married couples have a 50/50 chance of making it work.
For the unlucky half that get divorced, chances are, their heath will be much worse than those who stayed married.
A recent study reveals a new insight on the effects of divorce on women: hair loss.
That's right. The stress of losing a spouse, children, dividing assets, and court appearances seems to take a greater toll on females, causing many of them to lose their hair.
Experts say there are things women can do to prevent hair loss (such as not smoking, a low-stress lifestyle and a happy marriage), but nothing is ever guaranteed...

Restoration Robotics: Get your Hair Back with the Help of a Robot Friend
A revolutionary robotic device has been FDA-approved to help hair transplant doctors and plastic surgeons speed up the follicular unit extraction procedure.
The Artas system (the new device) works as the surgeon’s right arm, shrinking the lengthy procedure into shorter internals. The procedure requires the doctor’s painstaking attention to extract thousands of tiny hair follicles. The device comes in with a fancy image-guided robotic arm to guide follicle-unity removal, small dermal punches and a computer interface. The device also corrects the patient involuntary motions.

The Price of Beauty: Female Hair Loss
![]() |
| Hair extensions may look great, but they come with serious risks! |
Hair loss in women is more common than ever, thanks to a very popular beauty trend: hair extensions. No matter the type (and there are many), hair extensions can cause serious damage to the hair. The stress and pulling on hair follicles causes breakage and hair loss, and can even result in noticeable bald spots.
Hair loss surgeons are very concerned about this growing trend. More women than ever (some as young as 20!) are seeking professional treatment for the damage that they've caused to their hair. Unfortunately, in many cases, the consequences are permanent.
The only solutions include to continue wearing damaging wigs and weaves, or to undergo hair restoration surgery procedures like follicular unit extraction (or FUE for short).
