One of Britain’s top infertility specialists has been sending patients abroad to undergo PGD for gender selection, a procedure that is drawing a lot of media attention among Brits because it is considered illegal in the United Kingdom.
Gender selection in the UK was banned in 2008 with the Human Fertilization and Embryology Act. Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) is a method of analyzing chromosomes to detect genetic abnormalities in embryos and can also be used for gender selection.
