During the PGD procedure (also referred to as embryo screening), one or more cells are removed from the embryo at different stages of development and used to examine the chromosomes within. A single chromosome can reflect the larger entity. By analyzing the individual chromosomes of embryonic cells, doctors can determine the overall state and health of the embryo.
