This completely backwards practice of injuring, removing or "altering" the female genitals goes on without good reason, and victims receive absolutely ZERO health benefits from the procedure.
In fact, FGM does the complete opposite. Along with causing excessive scarring, bleeding and an interruption of healthy bodily functions, FGM causes mental scars that span multiple generations of afflicted women.
The only way to end this horrifying "surgery" is to speak out against it. The more girls, boys, women and men know about the terrible consequences of FGM, the better.
