Can You Die Without Dental Care?

For decades, dentists have stressed the importance of oral hygiene and regular dental exams as a vital part of maintaining overall good health.

But what happens when you simply can't afford it?

If this sounds like you, you could be one of the millions of people without health insurance, skipping out on check ups and medications that keep us healthy.

A tragic example of this was reported by ABC News in September, about a 24-year-old father named Kyle Willis, who lost his life after a wisdom tooth infection spread to his brain. Because he didn't have insurance, and couldn't afford a wisdom tooth extraction, let alone the medicine doctors prescribed him, he died.

If Willis was able to afford these things, he would have been able to undergo a routine dental surgery, and he would still be with his children today.

This story sheds light on two important topics: oral hygiene and affordable heath care.

But the latter issue is a shameful one, especially when it causes the deaths of young people like Willis as a result of a highly preventable, treatable condition.
