For athletes, too many blows to the head could have serious consequences

Since the 1920's boxers have been affected by a disease known as Punch Drunk Syndrome. Today, it is known as Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE), and impacts not only boxers, but former professional athletes that are involved in sports prone to multiple head injuries. One particular story about the tragic suicide of former NFL player Dave Duerson raises questions about the nature of CTE, and today neurologists are working with professional athletes to study the long-term effects of multiple head injuries.

Concern is being shown for the safety of not only professional athletes, but kids as well. The well-being of athletes and not just the score of the game should be the main concern for coaches, and unfortunately this hasn't always been the case.
