IVF Controversy: Patient Denied Treatment Due to Sexual Preference

Silvia Garcia is 30 years old, single and a lesbian.

You may be thinking, "so what?", but wait until you read what happened to her.

Last week it was reported by Spanish publication The Reader, that Garcia was denied infertility treatment due to the fact that she is unmarried and gay.

This may be shocking to some people, but for many cultures around the world, this subject is very taboo. For women and men like Silvia Garcia, this is yet another obstacle in the fight for equal rights for all.

Although many cultures around the world have accepted the GLBT community with open arms, topics such as gay surrogacy and infertility/IVF treatments for homosexuals are surrounded by controversy.

What are your thoughts on this hot topic? Do you think a person should be denied the right to have a child solely based on their sexual orientation?
